The Wolves men's volleyball team had an impressive first semester finishing with a 9-2 record thanks to a 3-1 win over Canadore in North Bay on December 2nd. Their record has them sitting in 3rd in the OCAA East standings. Thanks to some impressive wins throughout the semester they are currently ranked 2nd in the OCAA overall rankings and 9th in the CCAA national rankings. As we look forward to the 2nd half of the season, let's take a look back at the semester that was.
The Wolves got off to a hot start rattling off 5 wins in a row against La Cité, George Brown, Loyalist, Canadore, and George Brown for the 2nd time of the semester. They would go on to win 4 of their final 6 games, running into speed bumps against Centennial and Seneca. Their most impressive win of the semester came on November 25th at home when they took down the Georgian Grizzlies 3-0. Georgian was undefeated going into this game and had only dropped 2 sets through their first 8 games.
A lot of Wolves are having impressive individual seasons, but only one sits in the top 5 of an OCAA statistical category. 4th year left side Mahmoud Abdelaziz currently sits in 2nd in the OCAA in hitting percentage at .414.
The Wolves will be back to OCAA action on January 12th at La Cité before returning home on January 13th to take on the Centennial Colts. They will be looking to avenge their first semester loss to the Colts.
The team will be looking to keep the momentum of the first semester going as they make their playoff push.
