Ottawa, ON - The 2025-2026 varsity athletics season is in full swing, and the Algonquin Wolves Men's Rugby team is set to kick off their campaign this weekend. The Wolves take on the Conestoga Condors in their season opener on Saturday, September 13th at 1:00 PM at Twin Elm Rugby Park in Ottawa.
The Wolves will be tested early this season, as the Condors enter this season after a strong 2024 campaign that saw them capture the OCAA silver medal. The Wolves, meanwhile, are continuing to rebuild after rejoining OCAA competition in 2023 following a brief program hiatus.
The Wolves will lean on a core of returning athletes for leadership and guidance on the field. Among the returning players is third year centre Aung Thein, who was an OCAA East Division All-Star last season, who will look to help carry Algonquin to their first non-forfit victory since 2019.
Algonquin's coaches and players are focused on building the men's rugby program and working toward putting the Wolves back on the map in OCAA competition. Saturday's match is the first step in what they hope will be an energetic and hard-fought season of Wolves rugby.
